wedding-Q&A-austinLast night I had the honor to do something new and a little intimidating.  Talk in front of a large crowd.  Of my peers.  Without my camera. The nice folks over at The Knot hosted a great event for Austin-based wedding pros.  The subject was wedding photography, how to get published and how to choose wedding pictures for your website and blog that represent your brand and the work you do.  I can’t tell you how honored I was to be selected as the photographer for this panel.

Speaking in front of crowds isn’t new to me - I do it all the time at weddings and on commercial shoots.  The last commercial shoot we did I had a crew of six, 12 folks from the end client and creative team, plus 20 some odd models.  All listening to me; BUT I had a camera in my hand.  Come to find out, it's easy to talk and/or direct large groups of people when I have a camera to hide behind.  Trading out the camera for a microphone was uncharted territory, and I hope I get to do it again soon.

Special thanks to Dave McLaughlin at PhotoHouseFilms for letting me post their images.
